Hope4Cancer: Day Seven — Ask
By now, a group of about 20 of us met each morning over a green juice to debrief the previous day and talk about the upcoming day.
The vegetables used in the juice were lovingly provided by Marco, the “juicer guru,” from his own garden. Marco was another example of “the hand of Jesus” working in our lives by feeding and nurturing us, and we were all grateful.
This routine communal exercise also had an impact on me in a different way. To start with, I'm so much more comfortable taking care of other people than I am allowing people to take care of me. But with this support of my peers, I realized the importance of accountability. I listened to what they needed, but I also learned to ask for what I needed. We became ministers for and to each other, and as the days passed, I found myself moving toward a perpetual state of communion with God.
Coming together with these folks in Thanksgiving caused a shift in my mind, and I realized that the healing had already been done. My body just needed to catch up.
I felt so blessed to have this heart connection. The experience was like being in the trenches—smiling because my life had changed forever—and looking forward to going home and carrying this love with me.
Please pray for complete healing for my friends and me.
